Bontoc, Mountain Province - The Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP), in its continuing effort to ensure better banking services and convenience to clients has put up one ATM at the frontage of the Bontoc Municipal Capitol.

The ATM is now operational for 24 hours following the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and Blessing of the machine on February 12, 2020. It can be used to withdraw cash, inquire balance, pay bills, transfer funds, and change the Personal Identification Number (PIN).

Last year, Mayor Franklin Odsey wrote a request to LBP President Cecilia C. Borromeo for the installation of an ATM at the municipal capitol recognizing its importance in the banking transactions not only to the employees of the Bontoc Local Government (LGU) but to the general banking public.

In his message, the mayor extended the gratitude of the people and officialdom of Bontoc to the LBP, not only for responding to his request for an ATM to be put up at the municipal capitol but for always giving a positive response to the request of the Bontoc Municipal Government.

Odsey remarked that the construction of the Bontoc Municipal Capitol was made possible because the LPB approved and granted the loan application of the Bontoc LGU for the said project.

“The construction of the Bontoc Municipal Capitol is an impossible dream come true. Without the Land Bank of the Philippines, this municipal capitol will not be standing as it is right now,” the mayor added.

Maria Belma Turla, the First Vice President of North Luzon Branch Group (NLBG) in her message lauded the Bontoc Municipal Government for the beautiful and stately municipal capitol which was partly funded by Landbank through a loan.

Also, Turla encouraged all the banking public to be responsible stewards in using the ATM for them to ensure that this shall last through the years for everyone to use.

With an ATM in place at the Bontoc Municipal Capitol, it is hoped that the number of clients crowding at the ATMs at the Landbank Bontoc Branch will be lessened.

The Blessing of the ATM was performed by Fr. Pablo Lumiwan, the Parish Priest of Sta. Rita de Cascia Catherdal. Also present to witness the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and Blessing are LBP Bontoc Branch Manager Genaro Dumpayan, LBP Buguias Branch Manager Randito Dacanay, Vice Mayor Eusebio Kabluyen, Sangguniang Bayan members Alsannyster Patingan, Jerome Tudlong, and Viola Okko, employees of the LBP Bontoc Branch, and Bontoc LGU employees.

With the ATM installed at the Bontoc Municipal Capitol, it will also cater to the residents of the municipalities of Sabangan, Sagada, Besao, Sagada, Tadian, Sadanga, Barlig, and Natonin. For Paracelis, one ATM was installed by the St. Williams Cooperatives in its main office in Barangay Butigue. // Alpine L. Killa, Bontoc –LGU
