Bontoc, Mountain Province – The Bontoc Local Government Unit (LGU) has reached out to the victims affected by the massive flooding in Cagayan and Isabela due to heavy rains brought by Typhoon Ulysses.
While the municipality is spared from the wrath of Typhoon Ulysses, Bontoc Mayor Franklin Odsey enjoined the public in prayer for those victims of the disaster.
“We are thankful to the Almighty that our municipality has been spared from the devastating impact of Typhoon Ulysses. Our thoughts and prayers are with the affected families and individuals in these difficult times,” the mayor remarked.
Mayor Odsey remarked that the culture of Og-ogfo (Bayanihan) is innate to every I-Fontok. Thus, the municipality shall extend any help it can provide to the victims of flooding in Cagayan and Isabela.
Relative to this, Odsey directed the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) and Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) for the purchase of 30 cavans of rice as an aid to the Cagayan Valley and Isabela flooding victims and evacuees.
With this, the Bontoc LGU turned over its donation to the Provincial Government of Mountain Province through the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) on November 18, 2020. The latter shall transport all collected donations from Mountain Province to the Province of Cagayan and Isabela.
